About Sarah Tormey

After several years on the other side of the publishing industry, Sarah Pucillo Tormey bid goodbye to her career as a mass merchandise sales representative to pursue her dream—writing full-length historical romance novels. Armed with a firm belief that dreams do come true, Sarah set out to answer the burning questions that had occupied her thoughts during her daily commute to and from the office: what would a virtuous twenty-something lady in 1813 London do when her best friend’s wild scheme leads her to pose as a courtesan? And what would happen when this virtuous courtesan comes face-to-face with the notorious rake she vowed never to marry? With her first novel complete, the answers to these questions lie in the pages of Flirting with Scandal.

When she is not lost in Regency England, Sarah is usually found reading or recommending romance novels to others. She has been known to lure friends into her home with the promise of a delicious meal and send them home with a stack of mass market paperbacks. She loves introducing friends to the romance genre by finding that perfect first novel—the one that will keep them reading romance for many, many years.

Sarah currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with her faithful writing companion – her Burmese cat, Puma – and her very supportive husband. When it is Puma’s turn to write, Sarah enjoys cooking, listening to country music, and planning her next horseback riding adventure. To date, Sarah and her husband have conquered Costa Rica and the French Pyrenees mountain region on horseback and hope to add Ireland and Mongolia to their list in the next few years—and perhaps a ride through Hyde Park.

A FEW FAST FACTS:

Sarah’s experience on the other side of publishing taught her that as an author she must be ready and able to market and sell her work. Some of her unique experiences include:

• Working with RWA to create an author breakfast on Librarian’s Day at the annual conference featuring bestselling romance authors.

• Positioning and selling debut mass market romance titles to Target.

• Organizing author events and signings at regional grocery store chains by working with the chain’s distributor and the store managers.

• Attending and organizing the Annual American Library Association conference in Chicago in 2005, where she helped plan and run an author event featuring Barack Obama (she now wishes she had her picture taken with him.)
