Sarah's Recipe for Romance

Wit, humor, and a rakish hero determined to risk everything to win the heart of the woman he loves.

What Romance Looked Like In 2008 (A Night at the Oscars)

Somewhere amid the elaborate gowns and Hugh Jackman’s utterly entertaining musical numbers, I was thrilled to see a tribute to romance at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony.  At the heart of nearly every one of this year’s nominations lay a love story.  From Slumdog Millionaire to the animated film Wall-E, in 2008 movies told an age old story in a new way, taking a fresh look at what draws two people (or in some cases two robots) together despite conflict and complications.  For fans of the romance novel genre (both readers and writers), this is nothing new, it is what we hope to achieve in every page we write and what we look for in every romance novel we read.

This montage was by far my favorite part of the 81st Academy Awards.  What was yours?

Yes, this was the best montage. Romance is always tops. I really liked the opening with Huge and Anne singing too. I’m so tired after staying up with it last night.

There were so many highlights to last night’s Oscar ceremony, but that was by far my favorite moment! Both my hubby and I ran to FB to update our statuses in regard to the romance montage. LOL! Overall, I think this was one of the best years for the Oscars, from Hugh to the inventive way they introduced the nominees for best actors/actresses, I thought it was top notch! Oh, and how exciting for Sean Penn to finally be recognized for the amazing work he does!

    Great post, Sarah!!

Such a pleasure to catch an image of Javier Bardem here and there. And I always find some of the gowns more romantic than others. By far the most romantic last night was Penelope Cruz, what a goddess!
